Animal rescue shelter saves dog attacked by bear

Most rescue shelters want to help animals from every part of the country, but centers are often forced to stick within their area. Still, every so often an animal comes along that really needs a helping hand.

The Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter, which is located in Billings, Montana, recently saved a black Lab called Rosie, according to the Billings Gazette. The canine, who was named for her sweet disposition, was likely attacked by a bear.

"I'm really glad we broke some of our own rules to help out a really nice dog," shelter employee Allison Martin told the news source.

Rosie was brought in by Keith and Kathy Holbert, who found the pooch lying by a water tank. Although they kept an eye on her for a full day, they soon realized her injuries needed immediate attention.

"When we got home and I started cleaning up her wounds, she just laid her little head on my side there and let me work on her. She has such a nice temperament," Kathy Holbert told the news source.

Pet owners who are concerned about their animals being harmed by bears should take several precautions. According to the Associated Content, people should never leave their dog or cat unattended, always have their pet on a leash, and be careful not to keep food outside.ADNFCR-2796-ID-19929969-ADNFCR
