Animal shelter takes in dogs from puppy mill

Over 40 dogs were seized from an alleged puppy mill back in May, and now the condition of the pooches is being revealed - they're all doing well, reports The Examiner-Enterprise.

The animal rescue took place at a rural home in Nowata County, Oklahoma, where animal control officers discovered several dozen dogs. They are still not sure how many they actually rescued from the residence.

"We don't know how many for sure right now because some females were pregnant and they have been having puppies," Officer Rita Harvey, who assisted in the rescue, told the new source.

The property owners made an appearance in court to face the charges of cruelty to animals. The rescued pooches are now being cared for at two separate facilities where they are in good spirits, and will most likely be put up for adoption.

The Humane Society of the United States has been raising awareness about puppy mill dogs and how they tend to suffer from health issues related to the unsanitary conditions of the facilities. The organization is currently advocating for stricter regulations on these breeding grounds.ADNFCR-2796-ID-19836659-ADNFCR
