Betty White gets into the holiday spirit while doing her part to help animals

Betty White has won over millions of people these past few years, but her charming demeanor and kindhearted nature is now capturing the attention of the country's four-legged friends as well.

According to, White was in Williamsburg, Virignia recently, where she signed animal-themed ornaments for fans in order to contribute to a pet rescue charity. She also arrived to the event in a horse-drawn carriage and spent some time with a special dog beforehand.

"I am honored to be celebrating a day all about the animals with the city of Williamsburg," the former star of the Golden Girls said in a statement."Morris Animal Foundation is dear to my heart, and I look forward to celebrating a healthier tomorrow for all animals."

This isn't the first time Betty White has campaigned for the four-legged creatures among us. The octogenarian has been a stalwart advocate for animal welfare since the 1970, and has been on the board of directors for the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association since 1974.
