Blind dog finds lovable home

Kemo is a four-year-old pit bull mix that was left on the doorstep on the Oakland Animal Services four months ago. He is a unique pooch considering he is blind, but he won the hearts of the staff, and he has now found a loving home, the Oakland Tribune reports.

The pup suffers from a degenerative disorder that has caused the blindness. An animal rescue group in St Louis will be taking in the canine, providing him with a cottage that has been built specifically for a blind dog.

"Since he is blind, he is always bumping into things. He had begun to show signs of stress here," Megan Webb, director of Oakland Animal Services, told the news source. "At the cottage it will be very quiet for him and he will have the training he needs."

Kemo is preparing to become a therapy dog, and the animal rescue organization hopes to have him ready to visit children's hospital wards and cancer centers by next year.

Every year, six to eight million animals are cared for by rescue shelters, according to the Humane Society.ADNFCR-2796-ID-19917266-ADNFCR
