Couple's desire to help animals led to large family of mutts

Thayne and Chris Hamilton are true animal lovers, and they haven't let their physical location hold them back when it comes to rescuing dogs in need, the Islands Sounder reports.

The couple, over the course of their seven-year marriage, has rescued 12 pooches from all over the country. They have also flown pups in from places as far away as Texas and Arizona.

The rambunctious group of canines range in ages from 6 to 17 years old, and some have health issues, such as blindness and arthritis.

"We look for old dogs who don't have a chance at a forever home," Chris told the news source about their adopting methods.

Animals arrive at the Hamilton's five-acre property and are immediately showered with love and affection. They try to find permanent homes for the pooches, and once they get adopted, they fill its space with another pup in need.

Every year six to eight million cats and dogs are cared for by rescue shelters in the United States, according to the Humane Society.ADNFCR-2796-ID-19924100-ADNFCR
