Dog rescues woman from attack in the United Kingdom

A British dog who left a shelter two years ago recently performed a rescue of his own, Pet Healthcare reports.

Jake, a two-and-a-half year-old Rottweiler mix, was in Hearsall Common in Coventry, England last July when he fought off a man who was sexually attacking a woman. The courageous canine then stayed with the victim until police arrived.

"He is such a lovely natured dog and is very nosey so I think that was why he went to investigate that day when he heard the screams," Liz Maxted-Bluck, Jake's owner, told the news outlet.

The happy hound is now set to receive a bravery award and medallion at the RSPCA Wales & West Regional Conference in Shrewsbury.

"We are also immensely proud of Jake and this story just goes to show that a rescue dog can be a great addition to any family," Glenn Mayoll, Manager of RSPCA Coventry Animal Centre told the news outlet.

Those who are hesitant to add a rescue dog to their family should remember that most shelter pups are already trained and housebroken.
