A wiener dog race is among the varied animal rescue
events to be held at the Cross Town Bark Around Fundraiser and Doxie Social, hosted by the Midwest Dachshund Rescue organization, according to a new report from the Chicago Tribune.
Dachshunds of all shapes and sizes will be at the animal rescue event.
"It is a sight. You can’t believe when you see them all," Lori Biesboer, the president of the organization, told the news source.
Awards will be given for the fastest canine and there will also be silent auctions and a raffle.
This is the third annual animal rescue celebration of the Cross Town Bark Around. The Midwest Dachshund Rescue group is composed solely of volunteers. It is a non-profit organization that fosters dogs and finds homes for those who are otherwise abandoned and without a loving family.
There are more than 77 million household dogs throughout the U.S., according to the Humane Society. However, many more need to be adopted and those considering bringing a new pet into their home should first and foremost look into adoption.
