Injured baby owl making a full recovery

A young screech owl that was found on the side of a road with head and eye injuries appears to be on his way to making a full recovery, reports the Charleston Daily Mail.

The owl was taken to the West Virginia Raptor Rehabilitation Center where he is being treated for his injuries and kept under observation.

It is assumed he is still a young owl because he has fuzzy feathers on his head that help tell the difference between and adult owl and a baby. The center's experts say he may have recently left the nest and was still getting a grip of flying.

"We assume he got hit on the road and got the head trauma from that," Katie Fallon, education director of the facility, told the news provider. "His one eye is sort of swelling and was damaged but the retina is still attached."

People at the facility expect him to make a full recovery and be released within a month or so.ADNFCR-2796-ID-19776946-ADNFCR
