MacDonald family makes quest out of endangered animals road trip

One family in Canada is taking a road trip and aiming to see endangered animals, according to a new report from the Vancouver Sun.

Cameron MacDonald and his wife, Briana Fraser, along with their daughter, have embarked on a road trip that the family calls "The Endangered Species Road Trip." MacDonald says that he has always wanted to make this journey, even before his daughter was born.

"When I first envisioned The Endangered Species Road Trip, I was single and childless. At that time, the notion of driving around the continent and attempting to see endangered species seemed like a reasonably straightforward way to spend a working vacation," writes MacDonald.

MacDonald, who is a biology teacher at Langara College, is writing a book about his trip, to be published in 2012. There are more than 1,400 species currently listed on the endangered list in the United States, according to the New York Times.
