Petco helps with pet adoption

It will be easy to adopt a pet from an animal rescue shelter this weekend, as the pet supply chain Petco is helping dozens of local shelters across the nation host adoption events.

Petco is helping 27 cities host "mega adoptions," events where multiple local shelters will bring cats and dogs to a Petco store for potential owners to visit and learn about, Passaic Valley Today reports.

The store in Totowa, New Jersey, has five animal rescue groups coming on Saturday and four coming on Sunday, according to assistant manager Catherine Tice. The groups will bring adoptable pets that have been spayed and neutered and will offer information about how people can get low-cost neuter and spay services if they already own a pet.

In addition to adoption services, the Petco stores will have fun festivities like free photo booths for people and their pets. The Petco in Waterloo, Iowa, is another taking part in the Petco National Monthly Adoption Event this weekend. There, adoptable pets will be in store from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days, but potential pet parents need to be pre-approved in order to adopt.
