TV host Ellen DeGeneres finds a kitten and nurses it back to health

Hollywood News reports that after finding a sick kitten in a furniture store in Los Angeles, comedian and TV host Ellen DeGeneres rushed the feline to the veterinarian and paid for its medical treatment.

Witnesses who were at the veterinary clinic say that after the vet treated the kitten and prescribed it medicine, DeGeneres, who has many pets of her own, took the kitten home to nurse it back to health.

DeGeneres has since named the kitten Ridiculous and is looking for a good home for it with the help of the animal shelter, The Gentle Barn.

Many people find abandoned and stray cats every day and go out of their way to aid these animals in danger.

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) reports that in the United States alone there are an estimated 70 million stray cats without homes.

Without proper care, medical treatment and spay or neutering, these cats can suffer and become over populated. Saving a homeless cat in need not only saves a life, but helps to decrease feral animal populations as a whole, says the ASPCA.
