Woman works to help animals find a home

Jean Helson has always had a soft spot for animals, and she has spent part of her life making sure they find loving homes where they can live happy lives, the Mt Druitt Standard reports.

Helson runs the J and J Rescue, an animal rescue organization she founded and manages privately. She funds all vaccinations, spaying and neutering, pest treatments and mirco-chipping herself.

"I've been doing this on and off for 20 years because I've always loved animals so much," she told the news source.

When she had moved to the area, she noticed an alarming amount of abandoned animals, so she sprung into action and began to take them in, caring for them until they found a suitable home.

Helson, along with animal experts, encourages the spaying and neutering of animals to help curtail the issue of overpopulation.

Every year in the United States six to eight million cats and dogs are cared for by animal rescue shelters, the Humane Society reports.ADNFCR-2796-ID-19902157-ADNFCR
