Nine-year-old Clayton Williams heard the cries of a kitten that had become stuck in a tree when he decided to take matters into his own hands. But while his youth may have helped him perform the animal rescue, he did not come out of it unscathed, ABC News
Williams climbed the tree to grab the kitten, and as he was coming down, he fell with both him and the feline hitting the ground below. He broke over a dozen bones on the left side of his body, but at the time of the accident he was more worried about the cat.
The kitten was unresponsive after the fall, but Williams' mother, Tiffany, came to the rescue of both her child and the small animal. Now, both he and the playful young cat are alive and well and recovering from their unique ordeal.
"I bring Clayton over to the window so he can watch us feed her," Tiffany said. "He wanted to save that kitten more than anything else."
Every year six to eight million cats and dogs are cared for at rescue shelters, according to the Humane Society.
