I run an annual fundraiser for a shelter where I live. I took the poster into the shelter for display and asked, "who's been here the longest and I will pay his adoption fee." They told me who it was and so I went into the shelter to find "Gus" who had been there for a few months. When I walked in...the barking began "pick me" barking....all but one, Jasper. First kennel....he just laid there wagging his tail. I walked around looking for "Gus" and couldn't find him. When I circled again there was Jasper just laying there wagging his tail almost saying, "you just go look cuz I'm going home with you."

I found "Gus" and walked to the office and said okay, I found "Gus" and they asked me to adopt Gus. I told them "no, I'm not adopting "Gus" but I will pay his adoption fee. They tried to talk me into adopting "Gus" but I said I couldn't adopt him because I was adopting Jasper. I had my other two dogs in the truck so we did the meet and greet. Well, my two and Jasper acted like they had known each other forever.

I asked them if I could pick Jasper up the next day as we were not going to be home that night. We were walking the dogs back, my two to the truck and Jasper to the kennel. He looked back at me with a look of, "but...it went well." (Apparently his previous meet and greets didn't go so well). My heart broke and he went home with me that day.

My husband came home from, a day of golfing, to another dog and within 30 seconds loved him as much as we all did. He now owns our home.

About The Animal Rescue Site

The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food and vital care for some of the eight million unwanted animals given to shelters every year in the U.S., as well as animals in desperate need around the world. Over four million animals are put to death each year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.

Each click on the purple "Click Here to Give — it's FREE!" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal in need. Funding for food and care is paid by site sponsors and distributed to animals in need by Rescue Bank, The Fund for Animals, the Petfinder Foundation, North Shore Animal League, International Fund for Animal Welfare, and other worthy animal rescue organizations supported by GreaterGood.org.

In addition to clicking the purple "Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button, visitors can help more by shopping in The Animal Rescue Site store. With each item purchased, shoppers generate funds for the feeding and care of animals in shelters and sanctuaries.
