One day 5 years ago, my next door neighbor came to me with tears in his eyes – he had lost his job, his apartment and his car in one week! Since he didn’t have a car (and I already had 2 cats), he asked me if I would either take her or take her to a shelter. Since I am an old softie (and didn’t want to take a cat to a shelter), I agreed. It was traumatic for her at first – she spent the first 2 days staring at the door where she had last seen her “daddy” and tried to scratch a hole to get out! Now, she and I are buddies and she likes to sit in my lap and nudge the coffee cup out of my hand with her head! She is an old love!
