We actually have five cats and two dogs, all rescues, but all seven will not sit for a picture together. Marston and Buster's stories might be the 'best' though. Buster - the handsome Bug (Boston Terrier/Pug) in the photo is 17 now. We got him when he was one.
He was given to me my a customer at the diner I was working at part time. She had taken him from neighbors who told her to take him or they were going to shoot him because they were moving. She had no more room however as she had five dogs of her own. My son was 1 when he arrived, and every night since Buster has slept with him.
Marston (the pretty kitten) is 1 in this picture but we got him at 4-6 weeks (according to the vet) together with a camera shy brother, Dadae, They were found in a rental home in our PA community, left behind by summer visitors with no food or water by the community maintenance. Some of the homes are full time, like ours, many are summer rentals.
We already had 2 cats and Dadae took to them right away and went to explore our house right way with them. Marston was too tiny too climb the stairs though, so he stayed downstairs with Buster, who has a bit of trouble with the steep stairs now he older. And they loved one another from minute one and inseparable now (down to Tris having two companions at bedtime) Marston often now thinks he is a dog but its lovely to watch as the kitten seems to have kept the older dog young.

The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food and vital care for some of the eight million unwanted animals given to shelters every year in the U.S., as well as animals in desperate need around the world. Over four million animals are put to death each year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.
