It was a warm summer day on June 5, 2006. I was driving home and for some reason I took my dads way home. I turned off the highway onto the side road and there he was. This small ball of matted black fur. I pulled over and he ran. I just prayed he didn't run into the highway. Finally I got him and put him in my car. Of course no tags. I was in love with this cute little guy with only one eye and we had only just met. I got home, and I was trying to "sneak" him into a house with 3 rescued dogs. There was no sneaking about it. My mom hollered out to me. Take it back, just take it back, I don't care how cute you think it is. I knew I was going to have to sweet talk this one. I bathed and groomed him, and he fit right in. The other dogs didn't mind him at all. That night I went looking for his home. I found it. This lady grabbed him, turned around and threw him. They had no idea I had him for 7 hours. I was so upset I wanted to charge after him. I left balling and sobbing knowing it wasn't a good home. My mom said to me, "My God, Heather, if he means that much to you go get him." I drove back to their house and asked for him. They said yes, that he would end up dead if he were to stay there. They opened the door, and out came Scrappy in a full run. He leaped off the deck into my arms and started kissing me over and over. He's been forever greatful for his new chance on life as I am greatful for what he brings to mine. He has a wonderful personality and brings a smile to my face daily. I definitely fell in love at first sight.
