We got Trixie in September, after our 10 yr old Max passed from cancer. I talked to our Vet, and found out that they had a 10 month old rescue dog there, and she was my Vet's personal save. After hearing her story, I decided I wanted to meet her. I fell in love the second I saw her. She was 5 months old when she was rescued. She had been hit by a car and left for dead, her pelvis broken in 3 places. She was pregnant, and had garbage in her belly from eating out of a dumpster. And the bushes she was sheltering herself in were infested with ticks, therefore she was infested as well (which is how she got her name "Ticksy Trixie" aka "Trixie"), and contracted Lyme Disease. She had never been in a home before. Never had anyone to love her. Yet there she was, running to me at our first visit, tail wagging, and tongue ready to cover me in kisses. I knew then that we were meant for each other. I brought her home 2 days later.

She was scared at first. I had to coax her into the door, as she had never stepped foot in a house before. This was 2 months ago. She can now sit, give paw, sit pretty, roll over, and a few other tricks. She's my best friend. I don't think she'll ever know that we're not the ones who rescued her. SHE rescued US, and showed us that it's ok to love another pet!!
