After losing my Min Pin, I just couldn't bring myself to open my home to another canine. I adopted Callie, my tortoise-shell calico, but could not bring myself to enjoy another dog's love. One day about four and a half years later, I decided to go out on the internet and look at Petfinder.com. That's where I found my saving grace.
He was brought to the county animal shelter by an animal control officer, who stated it took him almost two months to catch him. That's where the Critter Calvary animal rescue found him and took him to one of their wonderful foster mothers. After having a spa treatment and having a vet look him over (and neuter him), he was ready for his closeup!
While pondering the thought of having another love in my life, I spotted the picture of the most adorable poodle/schnauzer mix. I applied to become his new mommy, got approved, and set up an appointment with his foster mom to bring him by the house. They arrived that Thursday evening, and he met my Callie at the front door. She hissed, he didn't care, and he ran past her toward the loveseat in my living room. He jumped over the back of the loveseat, stretched out with his head on the padding of the arm, and instantly became a member of our family. It was clear that he chose us, just like we chose him.
Since that April, a little over two years ago, I have gone through a divorce. While having primary custody of both babies, I realize that I should have named him Shadow, not Bosco! I never leave a room alone. The saddest moment of my day is when I leave for work each morning, and the happiest time is the 30 minutes it takes me to get Bosco calmed down when I come back home at night. His love and constant affection is what gets me through the day. He is the perfect dog...the perfect companion. He and Callie are my heart and soul. So I repeat...who rescued whom?
