A few years back my friend found a very pregnant cat wandering the streets. She already had 3 cats, but couldn't stand to leave this kitty out on the mean streets. So she took it into her garage and took care of it. The cat seemed fairly feral but did come around to human interaction quickly. She named her Rukia. She and her husband moved and took Rukia with them. Her husband had told her they couldn't keep Rukia and all of her future kittens (ultrasounds revealed 4). Perhaps they could keep two he said, they would each pick one. Eventually he agreed to 2 each, a total of 4. All of Rukia's kittens would be kept, what wonderful news.

And then the fateful day of her delivery arrived. She gave birth to 5 kitty-boys!

Of course the second I heard about her dilemma I insisted my husband and I would be happy to take the surprise kitten off her hands as soon as they were of age. And we did exactly that.

The very first day we met our kitten, Icarus, he crawled into my arms and fell asleep. He has been sharing a bed, and all of his cuddles with us ever since. (He also has been sharing his bad attitude, his sense of entitlement, and our food with or without our permission. But who could say no to that face?!)
