Faithful to Felines
Faithful to Felines is a cat rescue shelter that has 90 plus current residents and we have many(mainly kittens) in foster homes waiting to be adopted to their forever home. We are a 100% volunteer run organization. we have about 40 volunteers whom are very devoted to our resident cats and clean each and every room daily. Some come in just to interact, pet, brush or play with the cats. This is just as vital as making sure their rooms are cleaned with fresh litter boxes daily and fresh food and water are available. Our volunteers strive to give our residents the best possible temporary home with much pride. We have 8 community rooms which houses no more than 10 cats, a room dedicated strictly to cats that are under the weather to prevent the spread of a contagious condition like URI to be treated with the proper medications and quietness to calm them. We have a pre-intake room for cats that come to us for their 10 day quarantine period after they've been given "the works". The works includes their first vaccinations(if they aren't microchipped), flea treatment, ear mite treatment if necessary, deworming medicine for both round and tape worm. Then they go to our intake room to access their personalities better to find which room is best suitable for their personality. We also have a clinic and a hired veterinarian that comes and does male neuters on site. Females are brought to his veterinarian clinic to be spayed. He also does well checks and sees cats that may have an issue that our wonderful volunteers are unsure about. Our resources for money for daily operations including the many tons of cat food(both kibble and canned), cat litter, medications, flea preventative meds, supplements etcetera, plus utilities like gas, electric, sewer and garbage bills that have to be paid monthly comes from our weekly bingo game. We lost a great deal of money while the Covid-19 quarantine was in effect for 9 months. We also have a semi annual garage sale and raise money with returnable can donations. Our adoption fees do not cover the entire cost of the the money spent on each individual. Particularly one that needs dire treatment for an eye removal due to a severe or long term infection, an amputation due to being attacked or hit by a car, tumors on a otherwise healthy cat that saves its life, dental care if needed, this list goes on and on. all of our cats and kittens go to their forever homes spayed or neutered, microchipped, HIV, FeLV testing, all necessary vaccines including rabies, nails trimmed and properly socialized. We do not condone declawing cats. We cannot control an adopter from having it done after adoption but we have many informational pamphlets included within the folder each new owner is given with all treatments done, date of intake, the circumstance the cat is relinquished for, or where and when it was brought it. Same for kittens. We strive to be the most outstanding cat rescue in Muskegon Michigan. Anywhere for that matter and we pride ourselves with the fact that our residents are treated as though they were hotel guests.
