Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir is a project of Association Le Coeur sur la Patte. The Association was created in 2013 to help street animals. We set up the first Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate and Release scheme in North Africa in 2016 and have vaccinated and sterilised over 2000 dogs. Unfortunately in 2018 the local city council decided that all dogs had to be removed from the street. They were placing them in a small dog pound with very poor living conditions. We immediately rescued 750 dogs from the pound and set up SARA to provide a safe place. Since then we have rescued over 500 other dogs from the pound along with many street rescues of dogs, cats and donkeys. We aim to look after the dogs as best we can and help find them forever homes. So far we have rehomed over 500 animals. In addition we continue to try improve animal welfare locally and nationally.
