Once Upon a Tail is a 501c3 non profit Dog Rescue located in St Tammany Parish in Louisiana. We are 100% volunteer & foster based and are dedicated to rescuing dogs from every unimaginable situation...abuse, cruelty, neglect, injured, homeless, hoarded, surrendered, on euthanasia lists and pregnant without shelter or in a kill shelter, just to name a few. They have been let down by humans due to no fault of their own, but still have lots of love and loyalty to give. We rescue, place in foster homes, provide veterinary care, rehabilitate, socialize & train, and then adopt to loving forever homes where they will be treated like a valued member of the family. In 2019 alone, we completed 537 adoptions & rescued "Buddy, the Little Dog that Survived", one of the worst cruelty & abuse cases in Parish history. We have also made it our mission to be a voice for the voiceless by advocating for animal welfare, stronger cruelty laws and strict enforcement of these laws. Part of this goal is to also make St Tammany Parish the first No Kill parish in the State of Louisiana. We will remain unafraid and unwavering in doing what it takes, meeting with parish officials, sheriff departments, shelter managers, and educating the community to accomplish this goal. Our hearts break in a million pieces every time we take in a "thrown away" dog, but every time one by one they find their forever homes, our hearts are made whole once again. It is only with community support, donations, and the amazing foster network that we can continue to be the voice and save so many of these amazing and deserving souls.
