URGENT: Help Wildlife Affected By Recent Hurricanes
URGENT: Help Wildlife Affected By Recent Hurricanes
SKU: SKU: SK-GTGM1823
Wildlife in the Southeast experienced devastation after Hurricanes Helene and Milton wreaked havoc on their sanctuaries. They need your help NOW.
Hurricanes Helene and Milton created an ecological disaster across the southeastern U.S., which could affect wildlife for years to come. Wildlife sanctuaries were among those hit hardest by the storms, and many had to rush to transport animals out of harm’s way before disaster struck. Now, their enclosures are damaged, the animals' food supply has been destroyed, and they desperately need our help.
Sanctuaries in the area have been inundated by an influx of animals affected by red tides, harmful algal blooms that produce toxins and make air difficult to breathe. The hurricanes' intensity churned up water, accelerating the growth of red tides and bringing them closer to shore. This has left many animals seriously ill and in need of urgent care.
These sanctuaries rehabilitate wild animals with the goal of releasing them back into their habitat or protecting them if they cannot survive in the wild on their own. With limited funding and several unexpected setbacks, they've been stretched impossibly thin as they try to rebuild while also providing for an influx of animals in need of help.
Greater Good Charities has teams on the ground providing urgent support and supplies to wildlife sanctuaries in Florida and North Carolina. But we can't provide this aid without your support. We must act now to save these special animals.
