This GivingTuesday, help jaguars suffering from severe burns by providing them with lifesaving medical care.
The Pantanal, a Brazilian region home to the largest tropical wetland in the world, experienced the worst wildfires on record this summer. Millions of acres of land were destroyed, causing massive devastation that threatened the diverse wildlife inhabiting the area.
Even jaguars, some of the fastest and most agile animals in the region, were injured by these wildfires. Many were badly burned, and some sadly did not make it out of the fires. The jaguars who have survived, like Itapira, have wounds that require immediate medical treatment.
Itapira had burns on all four paws and was too weak to survive on her own. After waiting a day without any sign of improvement, the decision was made to sedate her and perform a rescue.
We're partnering with Greater Good Charities to work with organizations on the ground who are providing lifesaving medical care to injured jaguars. This GivingTuesday, help Itapira and other burned wildlife heal.
