Air Force Dad Returns From Deployment To Surprise His Daughter At Her Graduation
Air Force Master Sgt. Drew Macke has been deployed in the Middle East, but there was no way he was going to miss his daughter's high school graduation.
With help from the U.S. Air Force, Macke was able to make his wish come true. Now that he was able to come home, he knew that he wanted to set up a special surprise for his daughter.
Before the ceremony at Kings High School in Kings Mills, Ohio, Grace and her family were called to the stage. She thought she would just be viewing a special video message that her dad sent for her graduation.
She remained up there to listen while her dad's voice came on over the loudspeaker, in what Grace thought was the video.
The man at the podium then told them to stop the video, since "it wasn't working." But it turns out it wasn't a glitch after all.
The man then welcomes out Sgt. Macke and announces that he is home. Grace is immediately in shock and covers her mouth, looking around.
When she sees her dad walking toward her, she runs to give him a big hug as her eyes fill with tears.
She would have been grateful to receive a video message from her dad, but to have him there in person to watch her reach this important milestone was even more special.
