Birds are an integral part of the world around us, providing endless beauty and purpose! They help with pest control by eating bugs, they help with pollination and seed propagation, and they aid in rodent control. When a natural disaster hits, it can wipe out trees, bushes and other areas where birds would normally build their nests. Wiped out by fire, flood, wind, or large storms, habitats can be destroyed, resulting in bird endangerment. Lack of safe habitats mean they are hunted by larger animals, since they have nowhere to safely lay eggs and are subject to the elements, like cold temperatures, wind and heavy rain.

By providing birdhouses, roosting pockets, meal worms, food and water cups and birdie bells we can help our sweet flying friends build a nest, and have a little place to call home. By providing meal worms you also provide essential nutrients for birds and other wildlife critters. These shelters provide a safe place to rest that is protected from harsh weather and predators. Bird shelters are of extreme importance for areas that have been affected by natural disasters where natural habitats have been damaged or destroyed. These shelters encourage birds to stay in the devastated area and to help the ecosystem recover and flourish once again. If proper shelters aren't available, nests can be built in dangerous places that put the birds and their offspring at risk. Birds may try to nest areas that include rafters, eaves, small holes or crevices where larger animals have access to them, where chicks can fall from fatal heights or where people may remove their nests.

Help supply a safe shelter for our winged companions! The houses and shelters you give will go to areas affected by natural disasters, wildlife sanctuaries, reserves, and other areas in need, as well as classrooms and other facilities to help people learn about birds and how vital they are to the environment.

Protect and save birds by gifting a bird house, roosting pocket or nesting supplies!

  • A shelter provides safety for birds. Made out of reed grass it is especially favored by non-migrating song-birds during the winter months. This roosting pocket provides natural ventilation and drainage, and is designed to blend into natural surroundings, while the rough exterior provides an easy entry and exit for the birds. Other types of bird houses may be given depending on what is needed by bird rescue groups.
  • Ten Pounds of Meal Worms & 12 Food & Water Cups: these dried meal worms are a delectable treat for birds of all kinds. They are 100% natural, full of protein and vitamins. and help ensure birds (and other wildlife that enjoys mealworms) get the nutrients they need. The food and water cups ensure that the birds are getting enough nutrients and water throughout their day. By providing the rescue with several cups it ensures there is always a clean one on hand to prevent bacteria growth.
  • A birdie bell that holds natural colored materials preferred by North American nesting birds. This holder stands up to any type of weather, and can also hold fruit, seed bells, or more material meant for nesting.

Impact:

  • Elizabeth Vaughn and her husband Tony Vaughn from Mountain View Wildlife Rehabilitation were very grateful for the gift of bird houses. She writes "We assist Kentucky Fish and Wildlife along with intakes from the general public.  We work with everything from field mice to deer and everything in between." "The gazebo birdhouse has been installed on the 11 acres of Mountain View Wildlife Rehabilitation's facility. We feel they will be very beneficial to our facility to assist in natural pest control not to mention providing great housing for our local bird populations. We are in the process of distributing the bid houses in key locations even in the city limits of Hazard to assist in natural pest control. They are easy to install and very well made and will last for a long time." "Thank you for your devotion to animals worldwide."
