GOAL EXTENDED: Help feed 3 million meals to pets in need!

By funding shelters' single biggest expense — pet food — you're helping them get back on their feet after these devastating storms.

The aftermath of Hurricane Helene left a trail of destruction across the Southeast, flooding animal shelters and leaving many to face long and costly clean-up and rebuilding efforts. Then, just two weeks later, Milton slammed into Florida, compounding the damage already done. Shelters were struggling to care for the number of pets in need, prior to the hurricanes. Now, the influx of lost and displaced pets, along with terrible hurricane damage, is pushing these shelters to the brink.

Greater Good Charities was on the ground well before Helene hit, establishing a vital distribution network to deliver food to shelters who need it. However, the need for pet food is still so great and there's more work to be done - but we can’t do it without your help!

Help reach our goal of 3 million meals for pets affected by Helene and Milton. Make an immediate donation to ensure that these vulnerable pets receive the food they desperately need. Rush support now to feed them!

Greater Good Charities has ultimate authority and discretion with regard to the distribution of its funds. All expenditures made are consistent with the exempt purposes of Greater Good Charities.

UPDATES

October 22, 2024:

A sweet St Bernard named Rosco faced a heartbreaking situation after Hurricane Helene left his person with several downed trees and flooding on their property, draining their finances and making it impossible to afford dog food. To make matters worse, his person missed a week of work as their company shut down due to the storm, compounding their financial struggles. With their home in disarray, the stress of not being able to afford to feed Rosco weighed heavily on them. Thankfully, Livin’ Like Larry Farm Sanctuary stepped in, providing Rosco with food donated by The Greater Good Charity, ensuring that this sweet giant of a dog wound not go hungry.

Thanks to your generous donations, 25,000+ pounds of pet food have been distributed by Paws, Hands & Hands of Candler County to pet owners and animal welfare groups in Candler County and 12 other hard-hit neighboring counties.

Georgia Rescue:

Hurricane Helene tore off the metal roof of a small rescue center, Jenkins County K-911, in southeast Georgia.

Dog pens are currently covered with tarps until the roof can be replaced. The rescue's storage building was also demolished, damaging the electrical system and a sprinkler system that is used to mist the dogs in summer.

The rescue is run by two women who greatly appreciated the donated dog food to feed the dozens of dogs in their care.
