Resilient Dog Crushed By Vehicle In War-Torn Ukraine Survives But Needs Multiple Surgeries To Recover

Liberated areas of Ukraine are being combed over for survivors, including animals. Many of the survivors have endured unimaginable pain and suffering but refuse to give up.

Meet Bonnie.

This resilient dog suffered for months after being hit by a car and was finally rescued by Home of Rescued Animals who sent a team with humanitarian aid and to search for animal survivors in liberated Kherson. They discovered the sweet dog alive but in dire need of medical care.

He was found alongside a road and unable to move. The team rescued him and were determined to do everything in their power to help him recover.

Bonnie was transported back to the shelter in Lviv where the veterinarian discovered his pelvis was crushed and his lumbar vertebrae were severely displaced. It was going to be a long and expensive road to recovery, but rescuers refused to give up.

He will need multiple surgeries to repair the damage and give him the best chance at walking again on his own. The first surgery will fuse together his pelvic bones. The next surgery will involve adding metal pins to alleviate pressure from a hernia that has compressed his spinal cord and gently separating the vertebrae.

With your continued support, Greater Good Charities' Emergency Animal Medical fund will provide grants to cover his medical bills and ongoing care. There are so many animals like Bonnie that need medical care and deserve a second chance.

Help us raise funds and show him that people haven't forgotten about him.

The sweet fella is finally safe and with his fighting spirit will walk on his own again. Both surgeries were a success, but he has a long road of recovery ahead. Help us cover his medical expenses and give him the second chance he deserves.

The shelter is also in need of additional supplies to care for the animals. With winter approaching, they need heaters to keep the animals safe and warm and veterinary supplies to continue to care for all the animals in need.
