Indoor Cat Begs Mom To Go Outside And Play In The Snow

A ragdoll cat named Kit may spend most of his time indoors, but he has an unusually strong love for snow.

Growing up, we mostly had indoor/outdoor cats that were able to come and go as they pleased. They were adventurous and spunky, but the indoor cats we knew were quite the opposite. They loved to lay around inside and didn't seem to have much interest in exploring or playing outside.

When Ami Melanson welcomed Kit into her life, she planned for him to be an indoor cat only, but he ended up falling in love with the great outdoors. Specifically, he fell in love with snow.

In an interview with The Dodo, Ami explained that she got Kit when he was just 4-weeks-old. From the very beginning, he was a wild thing!

After a snowstorm one day, she decided to leash Kit up and take him outside while everyone else played in the snow, and to her surprise, Kit started playing, too!

In fact, the cat seemed to love the snow and from that moment on, it was over.

Every day, Kit begged to go out and play in the snow. It was all fun and games for Kit, but for Ami, it meant dealing with his dirty fur after the fact. That's when someone gave her the idea to fill a bathtub with snow for the cat to play in.

Ami wasn't sure if the bathtub would be as satisfying and fun as going outside to play, but to her delight, Kit loved it! He spent over an hour playing in the tub the first day and she made it a tradition to fill the bath with snow for him to play in.

It may be unusual for an indoor cat to love snow, but it seems that Kit is just not like the other cats. You can see more of him in the video below, or follow Ami on TikTok here.
