Many insurance carriers don't provide insurance for autism care and treatment. Stand up to their discrimination!

Autism treatment, therapy, and support can cost a family tens of thousands of dollars per year. Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability, and yet, many insurance carriers don’t cover the costs of autism-related therapy at all. This is plain discrimination. There is simply no reason autism shouldn’t be covered just as widely as diabetes or cancer.
Currently, 43 states require insurance companies, by law, to provide autism coverage. But the rest do not, and families with autistic children or family members aren’t being represented in those states. For these families, the financial burden is tremendous.
The kind of discrimination insurance companies are imposing is unfair and unwarranted. We need legislation that will strike down insurance discrimination and provide for federal reform on insurance coverage. Sign the petition asking President Obama to stand up to the insurance industry and make combating autism a priority!
