Hare coursing is cruel and inhumane, and causes needless death and injury to countless hares per year in Ireland. Take action!

Hare coursing is an atrocious and inhumane practice that is still taking place in Ireland today. Hare coursing involves capturing wild hares and letting them loose again in an enclosed area to be chased and terrorized by larger animals— usually dogs. When the hares are captured in the wild, they are thrown into holding cages where they must coexist with other hares and tolerate sub-par conditions.
Hare coursing is a competitive sport in Ireland and is conducted purely for entertainment. There is simply no good reason the hares should have to endure this kind of torture and terror.
Hare coursing is illegal Scotland, Wales and England and became illegal in Northern Ireland in 2011. Despite their tradition of hare coursing and other animal blood sports like badger baiting, bear baiting and dog fighting, these nations have decided to abandon old, cruel practices. Sign the petition asking the Republic of Ireland’s Minister for Arts and Heritage Heather Humphreys and Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney to see that this cruel practice is put to rest once and for all.
