Three-Legged Dog Needs Help Adjusting to New Life After Surviving Cancer
UPDATE: Skye-Lee is cancer free!! Thank you so much for donating towards this sweet pup's treatment. She is living her best life in a loving home and has no problem getting around on three legs.
Meet Skye-Lee.
The sweet pup arrived at Rescue Is Life, a rescue in South Africa, covered in fleas and underweight. She went to a foster home for treatment and was quickly adopted by a loving family a couple months later.
Her happily ever after story was just beginning when a health scare occurred. Just a few days after being adopted, Skye-Lee developed a limp in her front leg.
Her concerned family brought her to the vet to be examined and a cancerous mass was found. The only option was to amputate the leg to stop the cancer from spreading.
Greater Good Charities’ Emergency Animal Medical fund was contacted to help cover Skye-Lee's medical bills and ongoing care. The fund was started to help save the lives of injured and sick shelter pets and give them the second chance they deserve.
With proper recovery care, this friendly girl will be able to live a normal life, but she still needs your support. Will you help Skye-Lee get the treatment she needs to heal from cancer?
Pets receiving critical care facilitated by an Emergency Animal Medical grant may not be eligible for adoption until they have completed their course of treatment. If you would like to inquire about adoption of a specific animal, we strongly encourage you to visit the shelter’s specific website first as that is often the most up to date place to learn about available pets and review the adoption policies and process.
The good news is that Skye-Lee is cancer free! She is adjusting to life at a "tripod" dog and is so grateful for your support.
Help us meet our goal of $1,000 for Skye-Lee and pets like her.
