Meet Susie.

When she was just three months old, she was struck by a car on a Missouri road and left to suffer. When rescuers from National Mill Dog Rescue spotted her, they thought she was dead. 

However, the resilient pup survived but was unable to move. She was rushed to a local animal hospital who discovered both of her hind legs were broken and her front right leg was shattered. 

The X-rays also showed several BB pellets in her. The sweet pup was started on pain medication and antibiotics, and the countless ticks covering her body were carefully removed.

After consulting with a specialist, the only option is to amputate the shattered front leg. The hind legs will be repaired during the same surgery.  

Susie's life up to this point has been full of pain, but that is about to change. 

A loving foster stepped up to care for Susie as she learns to walk again and adjust to life as a tripod. Even though she has been let down by humans in the past, she still wags her tail with excitement at every human she meets. 

Susie has a very long and expensive road to recovery. Greater Good Charities' Emergency Animal Medical fund was contacted by the rescue to help with her ongoing medical expenses. The fund can help sick and injured animals only with your continued support. 

Help Susie take her first steps and give her the second chance at a long and happy life.
