Senior German Shepherd With "Saddest Eyes" Needs Home ASAP
Humane Society of Central Texas put out a desperate plea a few days ago to find a senior German shepherd a loving home.
Tank Velero arrived at the shelter underweight and suffering from a skin infection. He needs a quiet place to rest and a home to spend his golden years. The staff were told he was about eight years old, but they believe he is closer to twelve.
"The saddest eyes... This sweet, sweet old man needs a savior. That's all there is to say. Tank Velero (A111033) was once a majestic dog. He still carries himself as stately, but time has taken its toll on him, and living in a noisy, upsetting shelter at the end of his life certainly isn't kind," wrote the shelter.
They hope the power of social media will lead to a loving home for Tank.
They went on to say, "Tank is frightened inside his kennel, but once outside, he walks like a proud gentleman on a leash. He apparently is potty trained. As soon as he gets a break, he'll take care of his business outside.
His true personality shines when he goes outside and is free to roam in the yard. His caretakers said, "He's attentive and notices everything around him. Tank hears well, and responds excitedly to squeaks, indicating he may like a toy or two. He even will be vocal once he's relaxed, and does he have a commanding bark!"
They hope that someone will see the viral post and fall in love with Tank and adopt him. He is looking for a "hospice" home where he will be the only pet and for someone who will love and cherish him for the rest of his days.
His soulful eyes are shattering hearts of people near and far who all want him to find a home.
