Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary

A&F is a senior focused rescue and sanctuary that does everything possible to help death row, helpless, and abandoned pups and cats that otherwise are forgotten or overlooked. While we focus on seniors, we do whatever we can help any pup, cat, or person that needs a second chance. You're never too old or too sick to be given a second chance at a new beginning. Our "little red barn" is an old horse barn in Kansas that our founder converted into a senior dog sanctuary. It was originally intended to be just that, a sanctuary for old dogs to live out their days, but then others began to follow her dream and now we are a fully functioning rescue - seniors, hospice dogs, puppies and cats! The communal area is meant to be a replica of your average home environment, so that the dogs can live stress-free and decompress from death row until the day their furever family finds them, and if that day never comes then we will have been that home and family for them to live out their final days. There is a kitchen area (full of peanut butter and spray cheese), a laundry room (constantly running!), a doggie door that leads to one of our 4 huge fenced yards, and of course the open living area which is full of dogs beds, kennels, and donated leather couches (Easier to wipe down!). There is also a small picket fence area that acts as a downstairs "suite" for the dogs who may want a little more solitude or a break from the pack but don't want to go in a kennel. We also have classical music playing constantly. Each night, we make sure to go around to each dog, tuck them in, remind them that they are safe and loved, and wish them goodnight. Then we turn out the lights and turn on the moon nightlight. In the mornings, our owner starts the day bright and early and it's always a crazy wiggle butt fest as everyone is excited to start the day and eat breakfast! To date we have rescued over 1,700 animals in under 3 years. Most of our animals come from the euthanasia list at Wichita Animal Shelter, or from Oklahoma or St. Louis, and we also take in many dogs where the owners have recently passed away or gone into retirement homes. Please vote for us, together we'll help as many animals as possible.
