Our mission is to save and protect homeless animals through responsible adoptions, to provide humane care for all animals entrusted to us, to advocate for animal welfare, and to enhance the human-animal bond by promoting healthy relationships between pets and people in our community. We believe all animals should have their basic needs met which include. Freedom from thirst and hunger; Freedom from discomfort, pain, injury and disease; Freedom to express normal behavior; Freedom from fear and distress; Individuals have an ethical, moral and legal duty to ensure the well-being of animals and protect them from distress; In providing leadership in the humane care and protection of animals; That educating animal owners of their responsibility for the health and wellness of animals is an effective means to prevent animal cruelty and neglect.In 2017, we celebrated our 25th anniversary, which was a record setting year, surpassing our previous record set in 2016. We are very proud that we are a shelter with statistics that are impressive, not only in the state of Kentucky, but on a national level. In 2017, we took in 2,054 animals and achieved a 96.18% live release rate. 1,112 of those animals were transferred to our shelter from outside of our community, as we work regionally to save animals in surrounding communities that do not have adequate animal shelter programs.You can help PAWS set more records in 2018 and provide thousands more animals at our shelter with love and support by voting for us every day at the Shelter Challenge!
