Project MEOW

Project MEOW is an all-volunteer organization that aids feral, lost, abandoned, and injured cats in West Philadelphia through trap-neuter-return-manage programs, fostering and adoption, and support of feral cat colonies. Founded in 2007, our mission is to humanely reduce the future population of cats living on the street while supporting the current need for cats to live safely outdoors in our neighborhoods. In 2018, we rescued, vaccinated, and (if needed) altered 943 cats and kittens; of those, 8 were returned to owners, 215 were adopted through Project MEOW and 319 were transferred for adoption through our partners, PAWS and the Kawaii Kitty Café. We also trapped 401 "feral" cats; about half proved to in fact be friendly and were transferred to foster care. The remaining 200 were sterilized, vaccinated, and returned to their colonies to be cared for by their caretakers, some of whom access food donations and veterinary care through Project MEOW.
