Senior Dog Sanctuary of Maryland

Our mission is to provide a safe haven for senior dogs who would otherwise face abandonment, neglect, or euthanasia. We rescue senior dogs from unsafe or abuse situations, shelters and intake from owner surrender with the goal of taking care of medical or health issues and finding a new home through adoption. Rescue. Rehabilitate. Rehome. The founder, Val Lynch, was a retired Air Force Colonel who had a lifelong dream of saving senior dogs and opened the Sanctuary in 2015. Sadly, he passed away from cancer in 2020 but the staff and volunteers of SDS work tirelessly to keep his dream alive.
