Animal shelters in Louisiana and Alabama are overflowing with homeless dogs and cats as new ones arrive weekly. Highly adoptable animals are at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space and adopters. 

That's why we sponsor a flight each month, with your support, to save lives. Help us fly over 50 shelter dogs to freedom on our next flight on February 4.

The animals on this flight are at-risk pets - including heartworm-positive dogs; without the flight, they might never find their loving homes due to the overcrowding that often happens in shelters. Sending these pets from under-resourced shelters to shelters with empty spaces will give them a second chance at life AND the adoption they deserve.

Save a Heart is a life-saving initiative of Greater Good Charities that aims to reduce shelter euthanasia in overcrowded shelters by preventing and treating heartworm disease in shelter dogs, while transporting adoptable asymptomatic heartworm-positive dogs to safety.  

Together with Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health, The Animal Rescue Site, Save a Heart transports hundreds of asymptomatic heartworm-positive dogs to new homes each year.

Meet Ringo!

Ringo is a three-year-old beagle with a gentle spirit and an easygoing way about him. Described by everyone who meets him as “the sweetest little fella,” Ringo thrives on connection—especially when that connection includes a warm lap to curl up in.

With a soft beagle gaze and a love for companionship, he’s ready for a home that values quiet moments, shared space, and a loyal friend by their side.

He is ready to meet his special someone after undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. 

Meet Magnolia!

Magnolia is a two-year-old terrier mix with a gentle, friendly nature that’s evident the moment you meet her.

Though her journey began with hardship—she was sadly dumped along a rural road—Magnolia has remained open-hearted and trusting, showing just how resilient dogs can be when given care and consistency. 

Meet Gingerbread Man!

Gingerbread Man is a one-year-old lab/mastiff mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. He’s a super goofy, very outgoing boy who brings joy into every room he enters—often with a wagging tail and a playful grin. 

Beneath the silliness is a smart, attentive dog who redirects easily and enjoys engaging with the people around him. 

He will also receive treatment for heartworm disease before finding his forever home.

Every month we fly a group of deserving pets. Help us fund the next Flight to Freedom now! Just $10, helps cover the fuel costs of flying a pet 250 miles towards safety. 

In shelters across the country, highly adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized just because the shelters are overcrowded. In other areas, shelters have a shortage of adoptable pets. We're transporting these pets to shelters where they're immediately adopted.
