12-Year Study Reveals Which Exercise Boosts Longevity More Than Cardio

A groundbreaking 12-year study has challenged conventional wisdom about exercise and longevity, revealing that it's not cardio but strength training that significantly increases lifespan. This extensive research tracked thousands of participants over more than a decade to understand how different types of physical activity affect long-term health.

While cardio exercises like running and cycling have long been praised for heart health, the study found that incorporating strength training exercises—such as weightlifting, resistance training, or bodyweight workouts—can provide even greater benefits for extending life expectancy. Participants who regularly engaged in strength training saw a marked decrease in mortality rates compared to those who focused solely on aerobic activities.
