Young Harvest Has Been Homeless For Far Too Long

Pima Animal Care Center

This is poor, sweet Harvest. He's been at the Pima Animal Care Center for nearly a year now, and he sure could use a forever home. Shelter staff at PACC made the following comments about this special fella.

Harvest is a handsome pooch who came to the shelter in the fall. Well, autumn came and went, and Harvest is still waiting to find his forever home before another season passes.

Harvest spent some time in PACC's decompression program for shy and fearful dogs, gaining confidence and trust in people, and now he's looking forward to continuing his journey with the support of a forever family. Here's what some of his closest friends at the shelter have said about him:

"Harvest is a decompression grad who has come a long way. He is no longer fearful of touch and leashes easily and accepts being petted. He would benefit greatly from a home where he can relax and reach his full potential. He does need time to warm up to new people, but once he knows you, he relaxes. He is gentle and treat-motivated, is not reactive to other dogs, and is very sweet. The shelter takes its toll on most dogs, but once in a home of his own, he can continue to grow. He is very loved by the decompression team and other volunteers."

"Harvest is a very sweet boy who has come so far since he first came to PACC. He spent quite a bit of time in the decompression program for nervous and scared dogs and has since graduated and continues to improve every day! He keeps four feet calmly on the floor when you enter the kennel to leash him and is accepting of a slip lead around his neck. He does lots of cute zoomies as he walks but is good about knowing when he reaches the end of his leash. Harvest does not necessarily ask for affection, but he has come a long way and is accepting of it. He is so cute with his kennel mate Gizmo - they run around and play like crazy in the yard, and they enjoy each other's company on walks, too."

Harvest was tolerant and independent when meeting other dogs in playgroup. During a short foster stay, Harvest was a quiet houseguest and did well with the resident dog. His foster said he was very well-behaved and listened well. He was also described as easy to have around and observant - he just needs time to adjust and engage. Additionally, Harvest is housebroken with no reported potty accidents.

Harvest would love to find a quiet home away from the shelter where he can continue to build confidence with the support of a patient family willing to give him the time and support he needs to be his best self. He shares his kennel with a pal and may love to have a confident friend who can show him the ropes in his new home if you have a resident dog. If not, you can always adopt Gizmo, too. Please ask about him today!

A neutered Labrador mix, Harvest weighs approximately 54 pounds and is believed to be about 3 years old. If you are interested in adopting Harvest or know of someone who might be, please email pacc.adopt@pima.gov with additional questions. He's in Kennel D084, and his ID# is A791873.
