Reddit Asks, “Which Hobbies That People Do Scream "Rich People?"
What do rich people do when they’re bored?
Since they’re already rich, they must not allot a huge amount of time just to work, right? Do they just go on a shopping spree when they run out of things to do, or do they just stay and enjoy their richness in the safety and comfort of their home?
Reddit asks, “Which hobbies that people do scream "rich people?”
The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about rich people's hobbies is golf – but based on movies and TV shows, the rich only play golf to talk business, so I don’t think this one counts.
One comment got over 4k upvotes and, surprisingly, it’s another sport.
Tennis
It’s a super tiring sport, and a racket and a few balls aren’t really that expensive, but it’s apparently THE sport for all the millionaires in Sweden in particular, according to the commenter.
Some people reasoned that maybe the rich like tennis because it’s a sport that the poor people don’t have time for and it’s a low-risk sport...and also because “rich people like sports without physical contact."
Flying
Travelling to other places must be nothing extraordinary for rich people. For the common folk, boarding a plane can only happen a few times a year, and the chances of boarding a chopper is fewer. But in this particular answer, the Redditor specifically said that rich people go “flying to F1 races” when they’re bored.
Another Redditor added that there was one time his boss got him a ticket to F1 just so he can take their client to see it. “Traffic will be bad, so we were to chopper in and out,” he said. And their client didn’t even like racing in the first place!
Racing
While we’re already talking about racing, a Redditor mentioned that they work for Porshe and that many clients have racetrack memberships “where they garage their cars and have track days. $80-90k initiation fee, $10k annual fee for some memberships.”
Under this comment, lots of people share their own stories, like how some of their bosses don’t even bother with maintaining their cars, because they just buy a new one every year or so. Wow.
Polo
“I worked at one of the largest polo clubs in America and had all sorts of celebs and former presidents go there. Made great money because how some of these people tip is insane,” one said.
If you’re not part of the rich, work in a place that rich people frequent. Got it! A Redditor also informed us that one needs to have a whole trailer full of horses to use for just one match.
Another Redditor shared a past experience where he heard a polo player complain that not many young people played the sport, and “he said you only need 5 horses, your parents can buy them. Haven’t heard someone that out of touch with reality often…”
