Unlikely BFFs Milkshake & Dumplin' are Inseparable Buds

Who doesn't enjoy a good Odd Couple story regarding mismatched animals most of us would never have anticipated becoming best friends. Everybody needs a best bud, after all, so why shouldn't animals, regardless of their species designation?

Unlikely BFF's Milkshake, the duck, and Dumplin', the mini cow, are here to show once more that it can be done. The inseparable duo share a love for water and just hanging out together, but there's a "sweet love story" behind their friendship, according to Louisiana photographer and animal lover Bre Boyette, who notes that the furry/feathered besties are like "two peas in a pod," and that you can't have one without the other.

Shared on USA Today's Humankind online segment, which focuses on heartwarming and uplifting stories, the mini moo cow and duck spend each and every day hanging out together and bonding.

In the brief video, we see the two heading out for a bit of sunshine as they leisurely head toward a pond on the farm where they live. As they near the edge, Dumplin' pauses for a little snack, which stops Milkshake in his tracks. After some encouragement from the videographer and a few subtle quacks from Milkshake, the two pals finish the short trek to the water's edge and ease themselves in.

For Milkshake's part, he just swims circles around Dumplin' as if he's guarding his precious. What's so adorable, though, is the fact that Milkshake would not take another step or dip a webbed foot into the pond until Dumplin' went first. Maybe he was afraid the adorably fluffy cow would change its mind and wander off or that he'd somehow lose sight of Dumplin' and become separated.

Whatever the case, the interaction between the two BFFs in the 59-second video below is a must-see for bringing a smattering of cheer and joy into your day.
