Violent weather wreaked havoc across the South and Midwest over the weekend with a death toll of at least 39 people.
Massive wildfires broke out across Oklahoma and Texas destroying hundreds of homes and burning over 170,000 acres. High winds and dry weather fueled the raging fires with 130 burning in Oklahoma alone.

People heeded the evacuation orders, including local animal shelters, as firefighters continue to battle the blazes.

The destruction continues as dozens of tornadoes tore across several states leveling homes and knocking out power to hundreds of thousands
Missouri was one of the hardest hit states with an alarming 19 tornadoes reported across the state, according to a press release by Governor Mike Kehoe.

“The scale of devastation across our state is staggering,” states Gov. Kehoe. “Hundreds of homes, schools, and businesses have been either destroyed or severely damaged.”

One of the tornadoes caused significant damage to buildings at Purina Farms that is home to many animals. They shared on Facebook, “Our buildings may be damaged, but our spirits are high, and our hearts are full around these guys! The biggest thank you to our amazing staff and community partners who showed up last night to help us ensure all of our animals were safe and healthy.”
All animal residents are safe, including the beloved barn cat named Hunter.
The death toll continues to rise. Thousands of people and pets have been displaced and need our support.
