Survey Shows Dog Owners Can Tell Their Pet's Mood Based On Their Behavior

Who knows a dog better than anyone? Their owner, of course!
As pet parents, we're often hyper-attuned to our pets' needs, and a recent survey suggests pet parents are even attuned to their dog's moods.

The survey was conducted by OnePoll on behalf of the dog food company Ollie and shows that one-third of pet parents believe they can tell their dog's mood based on his or her behaviors.
According to SWNS Digital, OnePoll surveyed 2,000 dog owners and found that pet parents used a combination of tail wags, jumping, affectionate kisses and cuddles, and being energetic as markers for being in a good, happy mood.

On the flip side, the survey found dog owners believed their pets to be sad if they displayed behaviors such as not eating, having low energy, or whining and crying.
Perhaps one of the most surprising aspects of the poll is that four in five respondents who happened to be human parents, as well as dog parents, said their pet's wellbeing is just as important as their child's (81%).

According to SWNS Digital, the senior brand manager at Ollie, Nicole Sumner, said:
"Your dog is uniquely yours; no one knows their quirks the way you do! This puts you, the pet parent, in an incomparable position to quickly identify changes in your pup's normal behavior. These behavioral nuances could indicate something more serious."
