Update: Ivan is safe at Under the Sun Shelter where he is slowly gaining weight with regular meals. The sweet fella never stops wagging his tail and loves everyone he meets.

As the war continues in Ukraine with relentless bombing occurring day and night, countless animals are still in need of rescuing. 

Hundreds of thousands of animals were abandoned when their owners fled or were killed. The remaining terrified dogs and cats take shelter in destroyed buildings and search for any scraps of food they can find, which isn't much.

Meet Ivan. 

The young Alabai dog, which is commonly used to guard livestock, was found severely underweight and malnourished wandering the war-torn streets in Ukraine. 

Every bone in his body was visible as he staggered over to rescuer, Krystina with Under the Sun Shelter. Opens sores on his neck only add to his horrible condition. He has clearly not had a nutritious meal in a long time. 

He has developed rickets from nutritional deficiencies which causes fragile bones, pain, and lameness. He needs your support to regain his strength and health. 

Ivan will need months of medical care, rehab, and nutritious food to recover. Despite everything, there is light in his eyes - he wants to live, trust, run and play, like all dogs his age.
