Man Dumps His Fiancée Before The Wedding Because She Almost Killed His Dog
They sometimes say that a dog is a man's best friend, so when someone causes harm to your dog, they are going to face your wrath.
It seems as if one 28-year-old man knows this all too well. His fiancée, whom he had been in a 4-year relationship with up till this time had almost killed his seven-year-old dog.
It happened during a party that she had with her friends and the dog had ingested large amounts of alcohol and chocolate. Fortunately, the dog survived but the relationship didn't.
He went on Reddit to talk about the situation, saying:
"On Saturday, fiancee had a bachelorette party at home. I stayed with my parents but I left the dog with her because she likes having him there. However, I made sure to tell her to put the dog in our bedroom once the party gets going."
Unfortunately, things didn't stay that way very long. He ended up receiving a phone call at 5 AM in the morning on Saturday letting him know that something was wrong with the dog. His girlfriend had too much to drink so she got a taxi and went to the veterinary clinic.
He could tell that she had been crying when he got there and she was so upset she couldn't even speak. There were also two of her friends with her and they let him know that the dog was not doing well, but was alive.
In the man's words: "I felt sorry for her for an entire 10 minutes while waiting for the doctor."
When the doctor came out, he informed them that the dog had eaten a lot of chocolate and had too much alcohol. He said that the girls must've thought it was "cool" to leave everything out within reach of the dog. Rather than keeping him in the bedroom, they gave him free access to all the booze and edibles at the party.
Not only was the man upset with what happened, he told her to pack her bags and get out of his house and his life. The wedding was called off and she was instructed to tell her friends and he would tell his.
He began to inform his family and friends that the wedding had been canceled, expecting to get a lot of support for his situation.
He went on to describe what happened in this way: "Two hours later, I get bombarded by messages on Messenger, Whatsapp, by her sisters, brother, brother’s wife, her mom, her friends, telling me that I am insane to do this to her after four years. They started off defending her, but it quickly turned into insulting me."
He added, “The logical thing for me to do was look for comfort in my friends and family. Nope. They all f***ing agree. My mom said: ‘Well, it was a mistake, she didn’t do it on purpose, besides – the dog didn’t die!’ Lucky me, eh? My dog didn’t f***ing die!”
It seems as if those who were closest to him, including his mother and sister, felt he was overreacting. Even though he explained that what she did was careless, they disagreed and felt that he was taking things too far.
In the end, he said: "I’m 99% sure I will stand by my decision. But am I really an a******? Literally nobody is on my side and I have no idea what to think."
Since this was posted on Reddit, a lot of people had an opinion. Some stood by his side, saying that he was doing the right thing but others felt that he may have been posting it on Reddit because there was more to the story than just what happened to the dog.
He agreed, and in a follow-up edit, he said: "Posting here kind of triggered me to conclude this isn’t about the dog at all. She is negligent and irresponsible and I don’t want to stick around and possibly see our child die in a car accident some day because she was texting or she forgot to put his seat belt on."
