Puppy Rescued From a Pillowcase is Growing Strong, Thanks to You
Michelle Milliken
At an age when she still needed her mother, a young puppy in poor health was discarded to the first person who would take her. Thanks in part to you, she’s now safe and getting what she needs.
Bea was between 5 and 6 weeks old when her original owner put her into a pillowcase along with her littermates and walked through apartment complexes, giving one to anyone who would take them. For Bea, that was a kind woman who knew she couldn’t help all of them but could at least help one. Unfortunately, she wasn’t prepared for what this little puppy was going to need.

A Lab For Life, which ultimately took Bea in, explains, “Bea was very thin and covered in fleas. Even after a good bath with dawn, she still kept scratching. Closer inspection revealed sarcoptic mange too! (this is a contagious type of mite) This sweet lady that was trying to help Bea was overwhelmed. With four young children and another dog of her own, she just didn’t have the money to help Bea any longer. That is when A Lab for Life was contacted.”
Fortunately, this sweet little pup was quickly taken to a foster able to provide the nurturing care she needed. She’s also been able to get her shots, be treated for her parasites, and put on weight as she grows.

That healthy weight is being put on thanks to food that you helped provide. Your clicks, trivia participation, shopping for a cause, and direct donations support our partner Greater Good Charities’ GOODS program, which, among a wide range of other services, delivers excess food from pet food suppliers to shelters in need, free of charge.
Bea has been chowing down on this nutritious food while she waits to reach a good age for her spay procedure, plays with other fosters, and learns the basics of being a dog.

Once that’s all done, A Lab For Life says, “Then her real journey begins… She will get to go on our new transport bus to her new forever home in the New England area! Thank you so much for helping us help pups like Bea to find wonderful, loving homes.”
