You Helped Provide Three Dogs Comfort When They Needed it the Most

Finding yourself at an animal shelter, especially when you’re not feeling well, can be a scary and disorienting experience. Thanks to you, three dogs recently had something snuggly to make the transition a bit easier.

With your clicks, trivia participation, shopping for a cause, and direct donations, you help us get comfort items like treats, toys, and blankets to shelters in need. This is through our partner Greater Good Charities’ GOODS program. These so-called “extras” can be hard to fit into a budget, with food and medical care being so costly for shelters. They’re so important, though, in making dogs and cats feel safe, content, and ready to put their best, confident face forward to would-be adopters.

Among the pets helped by such supply deliveries were two wiener dogs brought into Bluu's Cluu's Texas Street Rescue. Both were in rough shape for different reasons. The rescue says George was extremely emaciated and required hospital care to start on a path toward a healthier life. He had some support there, though.

Bluu’s Cluu’s says, “He found the most comfort in the blankets that were provided. He kept his blanket in the hospital and was released a couple of days ago.”

Brownie, meanwhile, was out of sorts for a different reason. Her life changed suddenly when she was surrendered after years as a breeding dog. Anyone would need something to latch onto in that situation, and she had something.

The rescue says, “Her favorite was the purple blanket which she carries with her everywhere she goes.”

At a shelter over in Colorado, another disoriented older pup received some snuggly comfort. Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) says 12 year old Chihuahua Boo Boo ended up at their shelter along with his best friend Missy when their owner’s living situation changed. Boo Boo also needed a fair bit of medical care, which included having 11 teeth extracted and a thorough cleaning of the rest.

HSPPR says, “With his new smile, Boo Boo and Missy were ready to find a new home, and they were adopted together. (Missy is not in this photo as she was being spayed at the time.) In the photo, Boo Boo looks and feels like royalty on his new purple throne, a Snuggle Paws Signature Pet Blanket.”
